Chance The Rapper Lands Board of Trustees Position at Chicago Museum

Chance The Rapper is a man of many hats. You can now add museum trustee board member to his list of duties.

The DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago recently announced the hometown kid will be appointed to their board of trustees, reports The Chicago Sun-Times.

Lil Chano will be joined on the board by his father Ken Bennett, who used to serve as Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s first deputy chief of staff and director of the office of public engagement, and currently holds the position of senior advisor at Choose Chicago.

The third person being appointed to the board is Eric Whitaker, a prominent physician and executive vice president at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

According to the Sun-Times, DuSable, which was opened 55 years ago, is among the first independent African-American history museums in the nation. It has faced a decline in attendance and funding in the last few years.

Chance is all about the uplifting of the Windy City, as he has constantly given back to the Chi throughout his career and become somewhat of an ambassador for the troubled metropolis.

Last May, it was reported that the Coloring Book rapper was close to being named the club ambassador for the Chicago White Sox, in an attempt to "[help] market the team to a younger audience.”

Last November, he was tasked with writing the foreword for an upcoming book called, A People's History of Chicago.

Back in 2014, he was awarded an Outstanding Youth of the Year award, by the Resurrected Life Church of Chicago for his "outstanding contributions to the youth."
