Cam'ron, hip-hop's renaissance man, used Instagram on Monday (Jan. 16) to preview an upcoming single titled "10,000 Miles," which samples Vanessa Carlton's 2002 hit "A Thousand Miles." The song was featured two years later in the movie White Chicks, with Carlton signing with Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. in 2006. The song has had its hip-hop ties through the years, a connection Cam builds upon in the above video.

In the video caption, Cam says that the official single release will take place next week. It is a teaser for a film directed by Clifton Bell as well, which Cam says will be released this summer. On the track, Cam follows Carlton's vocal footprints, rapping, "I need to say ‘sorry,’ I already knew it /But my pride won’t let me do it, though/Best girl in the world, I might’ve blew it/Like a small condom, I get through it, through."

"A Thousand Miles" made headlines last year when the U.S. Men's Basketball team posted a video of themselves singing the song on a plane, Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving belting out the tune as DeMar DeRozan played the air keys and elder statesman Carmelo Anthony looked on disapprovingly.

There's already an audience that loves the original tune, Cam capitalizing on nostalgia and his ability to reimagine the beat. Catch his teaser trailer up top with the new track expected to drop before the month lets out.
