All indications point to The Weeknd having another smash record on his hands, with his latest release Starboy topping the Billboard Album 200 chart in its debut week. Starboy did about the numbers it was expected to, moving 348,000 equivalent units, 209,000 of which were traditional sales. Those figures make the release the third largest debut this year, behind Drake's Views and Beyonce's Lemonade, and give The Weeknd the second No. 1 album of his career after last year's Beauty Behind the Madness did similar work.

A significant portion of Starboy's numbers can be attributed to streaming, with the album posting the second largest debut week in that field behind only Views. Upon its release, Starboy quickly set a new record for most Spotify streams in a single day, the album's songs combining for 32.8 million streams per day. In total, it racked up 163,000 streaming units, equating to 245.1 million streams in it's opening week.

In addition, every song from Starboy is charting on the Billboard Hot 100, tying Weeknd with Drake for the most songs simultaneously on the chart (Drake also had 18 songs from Views on the chart when that album dropped.)

The Weeknd is realizing some success across multiple charts with his new album, as the titular track "Starboy" currently sits at No. 3 on the Hot 100, Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" featuring Gucci Mane holding on to the top spot. Weeknd's "Party Monster" and "I Feel it Coming," both released ahead of the album, make their Hot 100 chart debut this week as well, sitting at No. 39 and 48, respectively. At this rate, the Canadian singer should be clearing some wall space, with gold and platinum milestones quickly approaching.
