On this day, Dec. 20, in hip-hop history...

2013: Memphis, TN rapper and Three 6 Mafia member Lord Infamous passed away on Dec. 20, 2013.

Born Ricky Dunigan, Lord Infamous started rapping in the early '90s thanks to the influence if his half-brother, DJ Paul. The two linked up with Juicy J in 1993 and the Triple 6 Mafia was born. The crew was known for their vulgar and Southern-soaked horror core rap, and Lord Infamous stood out as being one of the most extreme. As the group was dropping music, Lord Infamous also made time to release solo work. His debut solo album, Lord of Terror, dropped in 1994.

Through ups and downs with the group and label situations, Lord Infamous left Three 6 in 2006. He soon started his own record label called Black Rain Entertainment with fellow Memphis MC II Tone. Lord Infamous rejoined four of the original Three 6 Mafia members to form the group Da Mafia 6ix in 2013, but wasn't around to see the group make a full comeback.

Sadly, Lord Infamous died of a heart attack in his sleep while at his mother's home in Memphis, TN back in December of 2013. DJ Paul was the one who confirmed the news with rap fans.

Now, five years later, Lord Infamous is gone but not forgotten. In 2014, DJ Paul said that he had unreleased Lord Infamous material he would put out to the public.
