Hip-hop will be well represented at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Flying Lotus, Roxanne Shante and the Beastie Boys' Ad-Rock are all set to be part of films debuting at the prestigious festival.

Flying Lotus' Kuso, his first feature film, is set to grace the Sundance Film Festival. The veteran producer made his directorial debut with the short film Royal, which premiered at 2016 Sundance’s NEXT Festival.

Flying Lotus’ upcoming film tells the story of the aftermath of Los Angeles’ worst earthquake nightmare. Kuso follows the broadcasts of a makeshift network of discarded televisions, traveling between screens and aftershocks into the twisted lives of the survivors. Hannibal Buress, Tim Heidecker, Anders Holm and Donnell Rawlings are among the notable names on the cast.

Roxane Shante will see her life story told in Roxanne Roxanne, a biopic about the Juice Crew member. Nia Long and Mahershala Ali are part of the film's cast. Meanwhile, Ad-Rock is set to show off is acting chops in Alex Ross Perry’s new movie Golden Exits. Ad-Rock's last acting role came in 2014 when he played Fletcher in Noah Baumbach's While We're Young.
