Lil Yachty's knowlege of prior hip-hop has been the topic of much discussion after he said in an interview that he couldn't name five songs from either 2Pac or The Notorious B.I.G. Sitting down with ThisIs50 however, Lil Boat demonstrated a pretty keen understanding of 50 Cent's catalog, naming a cut off Get Rich or Die Trying as his favorite song.

"My favorite song is 'Heat,' 50 Cent," he says immediately in the above video. "And I love the video game, Bulletproof. 'Heat' is an underrated song. That song’s fire." For those curious, Yachty would have been five years old when Get Rich or Die Trying came out in early 2003, though of any 50 album, his debut is unquestionably the most timeless.

A few weeks back, Yachty's dad gave an interview in which he shed some light on the young rapper's listening habits. "He wasn’t raised on Biggie or Tupac. Growing up, we played a lot of music. By the time he got to be 5 or 6, I really was playing Miles Davis," he said, going on to list Bilal, OutKast, A Tribe Called Quest, Coldplay, John Coltrane, Steely Dan, the Beatles and Paul McCartney as music he played in the house, saying he felt no real responsibility to pass on specific hip-hop records.

At the BET Hip Hop Awards last month, Yachty said of his detractors, “Niggas don’t know how to accept change. They old and washed up. I said it.”
