Iggy Azalea's sophomore album Digital Distortion is way past due. She originally hoped to have the LP out at the end of last year. She has since dropped two singles “Azillion” and “Team,” neither of which has gained any traction in the urban market, where her hit single “Fancy” enjoyed success in 2014. The project was then slated to be put out in August, but that date came and went. So what gives? Well, apparently her very public break-up with former fiance Nick Young had a big part to do with it.

"It's no secret, I kind of had my personal life fall apart... I needed a lot of time," she recently told People.

The couple split in June after Iggy caught Swaggy P cheating and he got his ex-girlfriend pregnant. The drama that followed would take a toll on anyone. "I mean, you wake up one morning and your fiancé is having a baby with someone else, you're going to need some time, right?," she added.

The delay also gave her time to come up with more fitting material. "I just kind of felt like, on top of me needing the personal time, then feeling, 'Okay, I'm single now. I want to have sexy songs. I want to say stuff about being single,'" she said. "I obviously didn't write that on my [original] album because when I wrote it I was about to get married."

Is she single though? Azalea seems to have bounced back with French Montana, though she says they are only friends. But do "only friends" do this?

Iggy's new album is now set to drop in January 2017.
