Fat Joe Says He Was Once Put in a Chokehold by Retired NBA Player Mike Bibby Over Sneakers

Fat Joe is well known for his massive sneaker collection. And if you've gotten familiar with XXL's Big Pun Stories With Fat Joe series, you know he's a riot when it comes to story telling. The Terror Squad leader killed two birds with one stone, recently telling a hilarious story about getting put in the yoke by Mike Bibby in order to get a pair of exclusive sneakers.

Don Cartagena recently conducted an interview with Sole Collector where he talked about the war stories behind some of his most coveted kicks. When it came to how he got the "Metallic Silver" Mike Bibby Air Jordan 9 Low PE, let's just say an altercation was involved.

Joe lays the story out saying he went to Bibby's house one day with a plan to leave with some rare sneaks (17:30 mark). "Mike Bibby's my brother. He's been my brother for 15 years," Joe starts off.

But when Joe started reaching for the rare joints, Mike wasn't having it, and a heated situation ensued. "Mike Bibby literally yoked me up. I think he had a drink or two that day. He don't really drink like that. He tried to muscle me," says Joe.

After the altercation was quelled, Bibby ended up letting the BX rapper walk away with a 1 of 1 PE that he still prizes to this day. He'll have this hilarious story to tell for the rest of his life.

Joe is readying to opening his new shoe store in New York City, UP NY. He announced the plans for the store, which is a partnership with 19-year-old named Scotty Spina, during the summer.

“It’s gonna be a store within a store,” Fat Joe explained to Sole Collector back in July. “It’s gonna be like a museum that no one’s ever done before; this is one of one.”
