Childish Gambino will have an even greater influence on tonight's (Oct. 4) episode of Atlanta. The series creator is set to make his directorial debut on the new episode of his FX show. Hiro Murai, who has directed all of the previous episodes, announced the news on Twitter today.

"I love tonite's ep of @atlantafx," Hiro Murai wrote. "Zazie is phenomenal in it and Donald kills his directorial debut."

Atlanta has been a breath of fresh air since it premiered last month. The comedy offers an accurate portrayal of the city as well as thoughful insight on the hip-hop industry and Black life. The relatability of the characters has helped Atlanta connect with many viewers. The story and setting have also allowed Atlanta to use a soundtrack that you will not hear on any other television show.

Childish Gambino's show has been a success in the ratings department too. The first episode drew 1.8 million total viewers and 1.2 million telecast viewers in the viewers under 50 demographic, according to Vulture. The show's first episode was the most-watched debut for any cable comedy since Comedy Central's Inside Amy Schumer in 2013.

Viewers can be secure in the knowledge that Atlanta has plenty more story to tell too. FX has already renewed the show for a a second season. Fans will get at least 10 more episodes chronicling Earn and Paper Boi's journey through the hip-hop industry.
