Spotify unveiled its 2016 25 Under 25 list today (Oct. 27) with Chance The Rapper, Desiigner, Rae Sremmurd and Tory Lanez all recognized for their musical achievements this year. The streaming service looks art a number of factors when compiling the list, including the number of people listening to an artist each month on Spotify, artists with songs featured in Spotify's top playlists and top-performing artists by genre.

"It seems there are more musicians than ever under the age of 25 who are doing well, and while it's always good to see returning stars like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Rae Sremmurd, this year's list also highlights newcomers like singer-songwriter Joel Adams and alt-rock band Nothing But Thieves, whose tracks are really engaging listeners and gaining traction in popular playlists," Spotify's Digital Trends Expert Shanon Cook explained.

An abridged list accounting for the hip-hop and R&B acts is included below, with a Spotify playlist of all 25 musicians a bit further down. Chance's May release Coloring Book was made available to listeners exclusively through streaming services, so his musical year as seen through a streaming lens may be somewhat skewed. However, with appearances at the White House, ESPYs and more, it's damn near impossible to deny that Chance has soared to new heights this calendar year.
