Chance The Rapper's Magnificent Coloring World Tour continues to roll on and so does his enormous year as he took home two BET Hip Hop Awards Tuesday night (Oct. 4). In addition to winning for Best New Hip Hop Artist, Chano also won Best Mixtape, his May release Coloring Book beating out French Montana's Wave Gods, Future's Purple Reign, Young Thug's Slime Season 3 and Lil Uzi Vert's Lil Uzi Vert Vs. the World.

Beyond releasing a critically acclaimed, Chance has seized the opportunities given to him this year, turning television performances into minor career events. He honored Muhammad Ali with an original song at the ESPYs in July, brought 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne to The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform "No Problems" with a set piece he later said had been vetoed by other shows and when he appeared on The Tonight Show earlier this week, he brought Ty Dolla $ign, Raury, D.R.A.M. and Anthony Hamilton along with to perform a special rendition of "Blessings (Reprise)."

Sitting down with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, Chance spoke on his adherence to releasing his music for free, underlined by him winning this award for a mixtape that features a song called "Mixtape." “As music grows there’s always new ways of releasing. There’s visual albums and full concerts and big broadway musical and so many ways that music moves around now,” he says. “I feel like trying to fit it into a for sale album is kinda obsolete now. It gives me more space to create and put out stuff.”

Coloring Book became the first project to chart within the top ten on Billboard's Album 200 chart off streaming alone in May with the Magnificent Coloring World Tour hitting D.C. later this week.
