While Young Thug is still struggling to gain acceptance from Lil Wayne, he has plenty of fans not named Dwayne Carter. The proof is in the numbers. Thugger's recently released project Jeffery has helped the rapper break a Billboard record, becoming the first artist to land three top 5 debuts on the Top Rap Albums chart in 2016.

The highly hyped project Jeffery sold 37,000 units in its first week out, also coming in at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Thug's previous two releases also fared well. The mixtape, I’m Up debuted at No. 6 when it dropped back in February with 15,000 sold first week. Slime Season 3, which came out three months later, debuted at No. 3 with 22,000 sold.

The Jeffery cover art, which features Thug rocking a dress, has been the topic of much discussion for the last few weeks.

“When it comes to swag, there’s no gender involved,” Thugger said in an interview of his penchant for wearing clothing traditionally worn by women. “When I seen that dress, I felt like God gave it to me,” he added.

He also revealed he has been wearing girl's garments since his youth and has never had a problem bending gender norms. “When I was 12, my feet were so small I wore my sisters’ glitter shoes,” he said. “My dad would whoop me: ‘You’re not going to school now, you’ll embarrass us!’ But I never gave a fuck what people think.”
