Twitter is a strange, strange place, sometimes. Today (Sept. 15), a tweeter from the Chicago area typed that Kanye West never got into a car accident in 2002, and that his hospital visit detailed in "Through the Wire" was actually the result of a beatdown from local Chitown dudes.

For starters, there is legal proof that the car crash happened. Spin posted a screenshot of the court's online records from 2002. However, let's delve into the madness that occurred on Twitter this morning.

Everything started when the person behind the account @Flyer_thanu2 tweeted, "And what's crazy is Kanye still got the world thinking he was in a bad car accident October 2002😂 all Im'a say is come to Chicagoland and ask."

Another account responded to @Flyer_thanu2, saying, "didn’t he get jumped because he stole music or something for some people and didnt give credit?”

Andrew Barber of Fake Shore Drive, arguably the most respected music head in the Midwest, quickly tweeted out a story he told in 2010, which should clear up any confusion or conspiracy theory. You can read it below. It details an alleged incident where Kanye gave a beat to a certain Chicago rapper named Payroll before it became Jay Z's "Never Change." According to lore, Payroll heard about the exchange and, despite being compensated, paid Kanye a rough visit.

In more recent Kanye news, the Chi-town rhymer addressed Kid Cudi’s insult during his Saint Pablo show in Tampa. He told the crowd, “Kid Cudi, don’t ever mention ‘Ye name. I birthed you. We all dealing with that emo shit all the time; me, Pat, Don C. Don’t ever mention ‘Ye name. Don’t try to say who I can do songs with. You mad ’cause I’m doing songs with Drake. Ain’t nobody telling ‘Ye who to do songs with. Respect the God!”
