10 Times Rappers Collaborated With Brian McKnight

Chart-topping artist Travis Scott had the internet going ham this summer with the impending arrival of his sophomore album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, which topped the Billboard 200 chart upon its release in August. While the project was packed with features from Kendrick Lamar to Kid Cudi and more, there was, a noticeable absence of vocals from the man who inspired the album title (thanks to Migos' Quavo): Brian McKnight. However, he did appear in Scott's hilarious promo video for “Bitch U Broke My Heart.”

Some of Scott's fans likely used Google to ask "Who is Brian McKnight?" and his absence from the LP does seem like a missed opportunity. For those who may not be aware of the accolades this multi-platinum singer and songwriter can set claim to, he's released 12 albums since his self-titled debut in 1992. His climax (commercially) was his 1999 album, Back at One, which went double platinum and was led by the title track. It's fair to say that the crooner dominated a good portion of the late 1990's R&B game. Next to Snoop Dogg, there is no artist whose been nominated for more Grammys without winning a single one -- which is a travesty.

While he became a bit more obscure in the mainstream in recent memory, McKnight did manage to keep his core fans engaged and committed. With features on records by Nelly, Juvenile and even Drake on "Side Pieces," which they performed at the 2014 ESPYs, McKnight has stayed close to the spotlight over the last decade. His Better album, which dropped this year, was the first project released on his own label, Brian McKnight Music LLC. As a matter of fact, he has yet to release an album that hasn't charted on Billboard. Also, who can forget when he popped up with the random (and frankly jarring) "How Your Pussy Works."
