Lil Yachty Calls All His Haters “Old and Washed Up”

The older generation has always clashed with the younger generation, but the disconnect has been especially apparent over the past few weeks. Most recently, in an interview with Bossip at the BET Hip-Hop Awards on Sept. 17, Lil Yachty said, "Niggas don't know how to accept change. They old and washed up. I said it."

That statement is sure to ruffle some feathers, but Yachty has always held this stance. In mid-August, the 2016 XXL freshman traded insults with Hot 97's Ebro Darden when Yachty dug up an old tweet calling him the "new Nas." The Atlanta artist then typed, “Ion wanna be Nas, I wanna be rich.” He then quoted the “new Nas” tweet and wrote, “I love this tweet for the simple fact of how mad it will make old people.”

Ebro responded around midday on Thursday, typing, “the #Troll is apart of who these new rappers are… I wish #bars & great music were too.” Yachty then quickly shot back, tweeting, “Godddd I was waiting on u Gpa ebro how ya doin take ur meds and drink coffee this morning?”

On a related note, legendary producer Pete Rock recently took to Instagram to voice his own disapproval about the new generation of so-called "mumble" rappers. He called them out for not truly respecting or understanding the culture. At a certain point in his rant, Rock says, “i can clearly see yall dont care about the culture so why you in it? Yall not gonna last doing dat!”

As aforementioned, Yachty is consistent in his way of thinking. He recently sat down with Tidal to give his two cents on his fast track to fame for their DNA segment. He also describes the formula he uses in his music. Lil Boat says, “It’s just fun, it’s not serious. I hate serious rap. It’s boring. Serious rap music puts me to sleep.”
