Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak was arrested this past weekend (Sept. 17) after leading police on a short-lived but high-speed chase in Hercules, Calif. CBS Sacremento reports that the hyphy legend was driving a Black 1988 Mustang in the coastal city around 1:00 a.m. when a police officer attempted to pull him over. Instead of stopping his vehicle, Keak, real name Charles Williams, led cops on a quarter mile chase through the neighborhood before losing control over his car on Paradise Drive. From there Keak tried to flee on foot and was arrested by the officers. The Oakland-reppin' rapper stands accused of driving with a suspended license and evading a policer officer.

Someone speaking on Keak's behalf took to Instagram to give the rapper's fans an update on the situation and dispel some media reports.

"To all the fans and everyone that is concerned, We are here to confirm all speculations and to also clear the air on the be half of Keak Da Sneak," reads the caption of the post. "Despite the news reports, this was not his place of residence nor was he trying to attempt to enter into anyone's apartment. Keak is not at all proud of the actions that took place but is very thankful that he was able to walk away from the situation with his life. Keak has court on Thursday.. so please , all prayers are needed 🙏🏾 Thank you for all the love and support - Keak Da Sneak Management."

There's no question that Keak is a local legend in the West Coast hyphy scene. The raspy-voiced rhymer has many hits including "Super Hyphy", "That Go" and more recently "Windows." Keak has worked with the likes of Mistah F.A.B., E-40 and The Jacka over the years. Check out XXL's 2009 feature with Keak Da Sneak here.
