Jidenna can do more than write a catchy tune. The Wisconsin native proved that during a recent appearance on Hot 97. Funkmaster Flex got Jidenna to drop some rhymes over DJ Khaled's "I Got the Keys" instrumental and the "Classic Man" creator stepped up to the plate.

"House nigga in the field, tryna get my funds right/While the homies in the shadows mooching off of my sunlight/And they want what I earned, but I want more than a rapper's worth/And they say the grass always greener, nine times out of ten it's AstroTurf," Jidenna raps in this freestyle.

Jidenna is currently gearing up for the release of his debut album Long Live the Chief. The LP is scheduled to drop this fall, but a few lucky folks got to hear it in August at a listening party. During the party, Jidenna spoke about how the album would touch on a lot of social issues.

"It feels good to be done and have something that will not just change this world, not just this era but eras to come,” Jidenna said. “I believe what Wondaland is doing is creating depth.”

Jidenna's debut album will be a chance for the artist to prove he's more than one-hit wonder. "Classic Man" made the music world take notice. Jidenna hopes Long Live the Chief leaves an indelible mark on the industry. His team certainly believes that the singer will do just that.

"I think people will look back at Jidenna as one of the best writers, performers, artists and leaders of our generation,” Jidenna's manager Mikael Moore told XXL last year. “He’s the real deal.”
