The new Nas album may be done, but not much is known about it. Dave East let a little information slip about the highly anticipated LP though. The 2016 XXL Freshman said that fans might see him appearing on his Mass Appeal boss' album.

"It's fire," East told Billboard of the new album. "I might be on it."

It is not much to go on, but that's understandable since East has his own project to focus on right now. The Harlem rapper is set to release his Kairi Chanel mixtape on Sept. 30. East hopes the project will be part of a renaissance for New York hip-hop.

"I want my Freshman year to be remembered as when New York City woke the fuck back up again,” East told XXL during the Freshman cover shoot.. “Legends always do what they do, Jadakiss Fabolous, Styles, they got New York etched in stone, but I want it to be remembered that it was a breath of fresh air that came in the game from Harlem."

One things fans won't have to worry about is East getting involved in a ghostwriter controversy. The rapper made that clear in an interview with Sway in the Morning.

"I feel like a lyricist is somebody that writes their own lyrics," he said. "Now songwriters and lyricists are two totally different things. You can’t really be a lyricist if you didn’t write your lyrics. There’s no passion, there’s nothing in it coming from you. It’s somebody else’s feelings and you just taking it and running with it. I write all my own music, everything."

Keep it locked to XXL for more on East once Kairi Chanel drops next week.
