Donald Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino, is riding high off the critical acclaim of his new FX show Atlanta, making the requisite stops on the late night promo circuit. On Tuesday night (Sept. 13), Glover stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden, fielding a question from band leader Reggie Watts, who really just wanted to coax the actor/comedian/musician into an impromptu jam session.

While Corden has gained some viral traction with his "Carpool Karaoke" segments, Glover shines here improvising his own material, Watts beat-boxing before the band takes over. Its not a freestyle in the sense that Glover isn't rapping, but it carries the same spontaneity, with references to both Watts and Corden along the way.

Watch the jam session above, while below, Glover and Corden discuss the lyrical magic of Seal's "Kiss From a Rose," what Glover says is his usual go-to karaoke song.

Atlanta aired its third episode Tuesday night as well, revealing the nature of the Migos cameo first teased in a trailer earlier this month. The trio play high rolling drug dealers posted out in the woods, who give two of the show's characters a proper scare before getting to business.

Glover said of the show in a New York Magazine profile that, “The No. 1 thing we kept coming back to is that it needs to be funny first and foremost. I never wanted this shit to be important. I never wanted this show to be about diversity; all that shit is wack to me.” Atlanta airs on Tuesday evenings at 10 p.m. EST.
