Lil Wayne stunned everyone in the rap world this morning (Sep. 3) when he used his Twitter to announce that he was potentially retiring from rap. "I am now defenseless and mentally defeated," Weezy said on Twitter. "I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm dun."

In the hours that followed, several rappers posted their reactions onto social media. You can check out what some had to say above.

Chance The Rapper encouraged Weezy to keep his head up and thanked him for being such an inspiration. Missy Elliott said she'd pray for Wayne and assured him she'd always be a fan of his work. Flying Lotus had some more specific suggestions – corral some ladies, bring 'em on a plane and get some head near a waterfall, then write about it. Surely that'd cheer Wayne up.

One of the most interesting responses came from Rick Ross. Someone on Twitter hit him and asked if he could buy Wayne's contract out from Baby to make the Young Money rapper a part of MMG. Rozay seemed interested, responding, "Get Birdman on the phone."

It's sad to see Wayne in such a state, especially since fans have been wanting Carter V for years. Birdman insists he's willing to "heal" his relationship with Wayne in interviews, but as far as Wayne sees it, there hasn't been any progress. Just this past weekend, he once again reiterated his feelings about the situation, saying, "Fuck Cash Money" while on stage.
