The rap game has seen a number of MCs change their name. Tity Boi switched up to 2 Chainz. Snoop Dogg went to Snoop Lion, than back again. Andre of OutKast went from just that to Andre 3000. Even though some name changes don't stick with the public (sorry, you'll always be Bow Wow), it's become a normal occurrence. It appears that Young Thug will be the next MC to change his stage name. If this isn't a joke, that is.

300 Ent. label head Lyor Cohen was recently a guest on the RapRadar podcast and broke the news to Elliott Wilson and B-Dot. After mentioning that he was shooting a commercial for Thugger's new Jeffery project, Cohen noted, “Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore. His new name is gonna be, No My Name Is Jeffery. That's his new name. The reality is when you see this commercial, you're all going to understand.

"It's a circular thing, it's important. I'm very excited," he continued about the name change. "Please, respect us to actually segue and utilize his name going forward, okay? Because it's important."

Whether this is something that will only last a certain amount of time for promotion purposes is something that remains to be seen, but it falls in line with the upcoming release of his new mixtape project, Jeffery.

Thug, excuse us, No My Name Is Jeffery, recently revealed a hand-written tracklist for the new project which is slated to drop on Aug. 26.
