In case you were still trying to perfect your dance for the Running Man Challenge, there's a new social media fad to jump on instead and it's called the So Gone Challenge. This musical challenge calls for participants to freestyle over the beat to Monica's 2003 R&B hit "So Gone." The challenge began earlier this month and like any good social media trend, the news spread like wildfire, being picked up by some of your favorite rappers. Chance The Rapper was one of the first big names to spit his freestyle. Zoey Dollaz, Pell and Little Simz have also hopped on the bandwagon and even NBA star Damian Lillard, who's also a rising rapper by the name of Dame D.O.L.L.A., matched his bars to the beat.

"So Gone" was Monica's soulful single, produced by Missy Elliott, Kenneth Cunningham and Jamahl Rye for her fourth solo album, After the Storm. The track went on to be Monica's most successful single of the new millennium, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart.

The lauded singer has taken notice of the So Gone Challenge and even added her own freestyle over her classic track. Monica snapped on the track while Missy Elliott played her hype man in the back in the video for the one-minute freestyle. Check it out above.

"Memba that? When I used to scrap? Used to had to rap or slap all them chicks for talkin' smack?/Monica will still snap/Kick down doors until my heels crack," she raps.

Check out which rappers in the game are up on the #SoGoneChallenge below and if you're feeling inspired, don't be afraid to upload your own freestyle with the hashtag.
