PartyNextDoor Admits He’s Unhappy Despite All His Success

'Money doesn't buy happiness' is the oldest cliché in the book. The adage applies to PartyNextDoor at the moment, according to a new interview with Rolling Stone.

It's well-documented that PND wrote Drake and Rihanna's smash hit, "Work." However, the Canadian crooner is unhappy despite the song's massive success. He tells Rolling Stone, "It doesn’t make me happy. I’m looking for joy. It’s a moment for Rihanna and Drake. I want to invest time in creating moments for myself."

In the interview, PartyNextDoor also discusses his relationship with Kehlani, which involved her reported suicide attempt. In general, 2016 has been a gloomy year for the singer/songwriter/producer/rapper, even though the casual fan might assume that he's enjoying the lifestyle of a young superstar in the music business.

The 23-year-old says, “It was a blue year for me. I thought, ‘Write a hit, you’ll be rich and happy.’ Meet one of the most beautiful girls in the world, one of the most talented, and I’ll be happy. All of that: I’m not happy.”

Interestingly enough, "Work," a certified club banger, wasn't intended to be a turn-up song at all. PND says, "People think that’s a party song. It’s a breakup song. It’s blues. I went from braggadocious to blues."

In case you missed it, the Mississauga native just dropped his new mixtape, P3. Party decided to go in a different direction this time, as he made music to reflect his current mindstate. He tells RS, “Really pretty people like my music and social media likes really pretty people. This album is blues — it may push away the pretty people.”
