Bad luck for Mike D of the Beastie Boys. According to TMZ, the 50-year-old New York native is out thousands of dollars after somebody stole a bunch of his surf and skate gear.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department was called to Mike D's home on Friday. The MC claimed a thief broke into his outdoor storage shed at his Malibu house, where he kept surfboards, skateboards and other equipment.

Mike D also reported that around 15 to 20 surfboards were stolen, and three were worth $1,000 each. The LA Sheriffs Dept. is currently investigating the situation.

In other Mike D-related news, the Beastie Boys rapper sat down for an extensive interview with Vanity Fair back in 2014 and discussed the late Tupac Shakur. Mike D said that Pac's determination to be hard ended up killing him. He told Vanity Fair at the time, “Yeah, [2Pac] was 'Thug Life' and everything, but he was more of an artistic kid. But basically he was so determined to be authentic, it ultimately killed him, which is a sad and tragic thing.”

In case you missed it, the upcoming Star Trek movie will feature music from the Beastie Boys. Jaylah, played by Sofia Boutella, is a hip-hop loving alien who listens to the NYC rap group, originally formed in 1980. In fact, all three of the latest Star Trek movies have featured the Beastie Boys in some form or fashion.
