It's been a very long time coming, but De La Soul has finally released their first album in 12 years And the Anonymous Nobody. Putting together the project wasn't easy as it involved a crowd-sourcing campaign and a number of delays. The group shows off their grind leading up to the album in the new documentary We're Still Here (Now).

The video starts at the beginning stages of negotiations as the group details the concept of the project to a label exec. They explain their crowd-funding ploy, which has become somewhat of a trend among older artists. "Before that button was pressed at the beginning it was scary because we didn't know. Who was out there? Who was interested? Who was really going to put their money up front an be supportive?" said Dave.

The group ended up securing over half a million dollars for the project. Then the real work started. The documentary goes on to show what it took to put the album together, including jams sessions, show footage and revealing interviews.

The album was supposed to be put out almost a year ago, but setbacks made for a Aug. release. This is the group's first album as a trio since 2004's The Grind Date. The new project features a hint of old and new with guest appearances from Usher, Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Roc Marciano, Estelle, Pete Rock, 2 Chainz and Damon Albarn of Gorillaz.
