Dame Dash Is Making a “Brutally Honest” TV Series on Roc-A-Fella Records

The formation, rise and fall of Roc-A-Fella records through the 90s and beyond will be told in a new TV series from Dame Dash and Preachers of L.A. executive Lemuel Plummer, Deadline reports. Dash, Jay Z and Kareem Burke famously created the label after numerous failed attempts to sell Jay's debut album Reasonable Doubt, going on to become one the premiere names throughout hip-hop. The label's deterioration however in the mid 2000s left a schism between its principal players and major acts, such as Cam'ron, Kanye West and more.

“It means a lot that Damon trusts us to tell the story – the true story – of how two global music icons got their start and did nothing less than redefine pop culture,” Plummer said. “That story is so unbelievable and yet so true that we know we have an awesome responsibility as storytellers to get things right.”
