Update:

After multiple news outlets reported Chance would be headlining ESPN's event, the Chicago rapper says these reports are completely false. Read his thoughts below.

Original Story:

The worlds of hip hop and basketball will join together once again when Chance The Rapper, Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo and Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker headline ESPN's upcoming forum on race, gun violence and police this Thursday (Aug. 25). The invitation-only forum, which is titled "An Undefeated Conversation: Athletes, Responsibility and Violence," will take place at Chi-town's South Side town hall.

This past summer, racial tensions began to boil over when after Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were both killed by police back in July. Not too long afterward, several Dallas police officers were murdered during a rally. Since then, celebrities from every sector of the entertainment world have offered their takes on how to stop the cycle of violence and distrust that permeates American inner cities. Curated by His & Hers co-host Jemele Hill, "An Undefeated Conversation: Athletes, Responsibility and Violence" is ESPN's way of continuing the conversation.

Rondo, who is a Chicago native, will take part in the "A Call to Action" panel. That discussion will focus on athletes' responsibility to use their influence to affect social changes. It's unclear what part of the forum Chance will partake in, but we do know he'll make an appearance on ESPN's First Take on Friday (Aug. 26), the day after the forum.

Addressing the issues of violence and distrust in the inner city isn't easy. For his part, Chicago native Parker offered his take on how to solve the issue of gun violence for The Player's Tribune. You can check that out here.
