AfroPunk 2016 is in the books. As Brooklyn's annual arts and music festival took over Commodore Barry Park for its 11th year this past weekend (Aug. 27-28), the festival theme was “Power to the Party.” With 2016 being an election year, plenty of performers and activists made their stance known on the Black Lives Matter movement and the upcoming presidential election. When this year's lineup was announced back in April, fans of the fest celebrating Black culture noticed less hip-hop acts than in previous years. But nevertheless, the expanded festival was set to include a slew of Internet age up-and-comers.

The always entertaining CeeLo Green took over the Green Stage with a full brass band, a floor-length burnt orange ensemble and booming renditions of "Crazy," "Fuck You" and more.

Odd Future founders Tyler The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt each held down one day of the festival. Tyler's sunshine set at the Red Stage Saturday (Aug. 27) brought out what seemed to be one of the rapper's rowdiest, most racially-mixed crowds.

"I know I ain't gotta ask y'all if you know how to clap on beat," joked Tyler, citing how many people with rhythm were in the crowd.

During the second day's festivities, Angel Haze commanded the crowd with rock-influenced cuts of her latest project, Back to the Woods and L.A.-based label Soulection held their own with some of their best DJs: Sango, Esta and founder Joe Kay.

All throughout the weekend, celebrities were spotted in the crowd and VIP areas taking in the music. Actor/rapper Donald Glover, a.k.a Childish Gambino, who is set to spearhead his own festival on Labor Day weekend, was all over the festival grounds, linking up with the likes of activist DeRay Mckesson.

Ice Cube closed out the festival Sunday evening (Aug. 28) with his catalog's biggest hits including "Hello," "Check Yo Self" and "It Was a Good Day."
