The food industry is a popular investment for rappers. Over the last decade especially, hip-hop stars have used their cash to diversify their profile, becoming store owners in today's most popular food chains and even opening restaurants.

Rick Ross, specifically, has invested heavily in owning a large number of Wingstop franchises throughout the states and has been a marketer's dream by adding lyrics about the chicken wings plus making sure the food is visible at all events and videos he's in.

However, the food business isn't a slam dunk. A ton of rappers have opened restaurants and failed. Ludacris kicked off a restaurant called Straits but closed down its doors after a few years. Doug E. Fresh launched a Caribbean and soul food joint in Harlem but it was shut down just a couple of years ago and Diddy had a nice run with Justin's in both New York and Atlanta before the restaurant was terminated.

There are successes though. Jay Z's The 40/40 Club is still very popular and profitable and DJ Khaled's Finga Licking in Miami just opened and is getting rave reviews. 2 Chainz recently announced he will be launching a restaurant and lounge in downtown Atlanta called Escobar Restaurant & Tapas. According to the the restaurant’s official Instagram page, it will open this summer.

Here's every rapper who has a restaurant—not food chains like Fatburger, Burger King—open right now.
