It feels like just about every rapper has taken a turn at criticizing Donald Trump, so it wouldn't be right if one of the more overtly political rap groups didn't have something to say about the controversial Republican presidential candidate.

On Monday (July 18), Prophets of Rage prevented this injustice by performing a surprise concert near the site of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. Needless to say, the group made sure to voice their distaste for everyone involved with the annual convention. “We’re gonna go over there and we’re gonna let the fuckers at the RNC know that we’ve had enough of their bullshit,” exclaimed the group's Tom Morello before performing Rage Against The Machine songs like "Bulls on Parade" and "Sleep Now in the Fire." You can see the footage above.

Prophets of Rage, which features members of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill, came together as a group this past May. If you're familiar with the members of the new supergroup, you probably could've guessed that they would adress social issues in their music. They did just that in their recently released, eponymously titled debut single, "Prophets of Rage."

In the new song, Public Enemy rapper Chuck D raps, "With vice I hold the mic device/With force I keep it away of course/And I’m keeping you from sleeping/And on stage I rage/And I’m rolling/To the poor I pour in on in metaphors/Not bluffing, it’s nothing/That we ain’t did before/We played you stayed/The points made/You consider it done/By the prophets of rage.”

In the next verse of the song, Cypress Hill's B-Real let's his feelings about America's government be known, rapping, "Raise ya fists up/When I lift up/Fuckin’ everything wrong with the system/People hungry and dyin’, they ain’t got a home/This is the nature created for the terrordome.”

Prophets of Rage have yet to release an album, but when they do, you can bet it will be one of this year's most politically charged rap albums. Keep it locked with XXL for more updates on the group.
