In late May, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy and Rage Against The Machine formally announced their new supergroup, Prophets of Rage. Today (July 18), Prophets of Rage unleash a ferocious new self-titled single.

Chuck D's verse is the same as the one in Public Enemy's 1988 song by the same name, which appeared on the album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.

Over hard-hitting guitar and snare, Chuck spits, "With vice I hold the mic device/With force I keep it away of course/And I'm keeping you from sleeping/And on stage I rage/And I'm rolling/To the poor I pour in on in metaphors/Not bluffing, it's nothing/That we ain't did before/We played you stayed/The points made/You consider it done/By the prophets of rage."

Next up is B-Real's verse. He raps, "Raise ya fists up/When I lift up/Fuckin' everything wrong with the system/People hungry and dyin', they ain't got a home/This is the nature created for the terrordome."

The supergroup’s lineup consists of B-Real of Cypress Hill, Chuck D and DJ Lord of Public Enemy and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk. Artists not involved are Cypress Hill's Eric Bobo, Sen Dog and DJ Muggs, Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav and Professor Griff and Rage Against The Machine’s Zack de la Rocha.

The band  recently sat down with KROQ 106.7 FM in Pasadena, Calif. for an extensive conversation detailing the formation of the group, plans for live shows and more.
