An Ohio-based rapper who goes by Yarima Karama claims Gavin Long, the Baton Rouge gunman who killed three police officers, sent him an email containing a three-page, handwritten manifesto.

In the video above, posted to YouTube last week (July 19), Karama details his communication. Karama received the email at 9:04 a.m. EST, roughly 40 minutes before authorities first received reports of the shooting, CNN is reporting. Karama says in the video that he did not know Long personally, but that the two communicated. He did not provide CNN with a copy of the letter, though BuzzFeed was sent a single page.

Much of the manifest is copied from that of Christopher Dorner, the former police officer who went on a South California shooting spree in 2013. It details police corruption and what the author views as the system's ineffectiveness in prosecuting bad cops. The author, who had legally changed his name to Cosmo Setepenra, what Karama refers to him by, writes that the shootings were "a necessary evil that I do not wish to partake in, nor do I enjoy partaking in, but must partake in in order to create substantial change within America's police force and judicial system," according to Karama's reading. The author as well praises law enforcement in a portion of the letter, a majority of which he says are good.

Karama's video is included up top, with BuzzFeed breaking down the contents of the manifesto further.
