If Joe Budden's lyrical assault on Drake has proven nothing else it's that he has bars, punchlines and metaphors for days. Adding to that notion, the Slaughterhouse rapper stopped by Hot 97 to deliver a freestyle for Funk Flex and he rips the mic like few others in the game today can.

The rhymes here are far too dense and free-wielding to unpack entirely, but this portion — "You never see how I handle the spot / Been on both sides of the fence, seen the hammer get cocked / I give a fuck if young niggas understand it or not / Sometimes you gotta show the kids you really ran with the rock" — serves as a standout for the way that Joe can fold references and double entendre's into one another without so much as breaking a sweat.

Consider first that when two young Drake fans ran up on Budden recently, trying to get their amateur paparazzi on, Budden came back with rocks in hand. Then there is the common football analogy, Budden saying here that he has playing time under his belt, he's handled the ball and advanced. And lastly, there is a recent podcast with ItsTheReal in which Budden explains how he almost signed to Roc-A-Fella.

Catch the full four-plus minute freestyle up top, what amounts to just another day's work for lyrically dexterous Budden whofinishes the session off with "Anybody got something to say, if it ain't in a bar I ain't addressing it / If it ain't directly directed at me, I don’t respect it."
