With the two year anniversary of Eric Garner's death approaching, the Staten Island man having been strangled by police as he pleaded for breath, the country now mourns yet another black American killed by police, as video has emerged Wednesday morning (July 6) showing two white police officers shooting 37-year-old Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, despite the fact that they had him pinned.

Police responded to a complaint that stated that a black male wearing a red shirt was selling CDs and had threatened someone with a gun. In the video below which we do warn contains disturbing footage, the officers can be seen tackling Sterling to the ground, with one shouting "He's got a gun" and then "he's going for the gun," before firing shots. The cell phone video then cuts out as those recording it respond to the incident.

Many in the hip-hop community have voiced their outrage at the contents of the video, with Fabolous asking, "When is America & the judicial system that's suppose to protect us, gonna make these officers who are killing black men take responsibility for what's going on." Charlamagne of "The Breakfast Club" wrote, "Said it once and I'll say it a million times. As a black American I fear the police way more than Isis."

The two officers have been place on administrative leave with a full investigation to be conducted. “This is not going to be a coverup,” Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden said. For additional quotes and details, visit The Washington Post.
