G Herbo and Dave East's 2016 XXL Freshmen Roundtable Interview

The 2016 XXL Freshman class is out and over the last few weeks we've released exclusive content featuring everything from freestyles to cyphers. After Dave East and G Herbo rattled off killer freestyles in their cypher, the two artists sat down for a roundtable discussion to talk about being part of the 2016 XXL Freshman class, what it means for their career, being in the spotlight and meeting new artists.

"Today has been dope, I ain't going to front, it's been long but I'm happy to be a part of it, meeting the artists that's on [the cover]," East told XXL. "There's a couple I already knew and even meeting the new ones. A few people music I wasn't even familiar with but I've been hearing it today while we been in here."

What makes East and Herbo's pairing so awesome is that the two artists are similar in approach -- calm and collective with immense lyrical ability -- but differ in style and delivery. Dave East hails from the streets of Harlem and spits like a monster. G Herbo is from Chicago and fires off his rhymes like a automatic weapon. Now that they are in the XXL Freshman class, they're looking to take their game to a new level.

"I feel like being a XXL Freshman is beneficial, it will really open a lot of doors up and you get to be around different people and a whole another limelight and other exposure that you probably wasn't exposed to before," Herbo said to XXL. "I grew up looking at XXL Magazine, Snoop, Dre down to Meek and so forth. So it's really just be remember as that."
