Back in 2006, Drake's claim to fame was still his role on the Canadian teen sitcom Degrassi: The Next Generation. But it was that year things would start to move in another direction. By that time, Aubrey was moonlighting as a rapper and working on his very first self-released mixtape Room for Improvement. Before the bucks were rolling in, Drizzy's mom had to fund his rap star dreams which apparently came with a serious Ebay habit.

Drake recently found and shared a letter he wrote his mom dukes from back in '06 on Instagram where he basically apologizes for running up her card for things he purchased to further his career. "Dear mom," the letter reads, "I have canceled my Wireimage subscription due to my eBay charges coming to more than I had planned for. Thanks for temporarily funding my music and wardrobe."

Drake captioned the reminder of his humble beginnings, "eBay was the addiction back in 2006. Def come a long way and it's safe to say I most likely settled this debt. 😂😂😂 #NothingWithoutMyMom #IProbablyBoughtSomeEvisuJeans."

Things have definitely changed for the rapper since then and it didn't take too much longer from that moment. Drizzy's third mixtape So Far Gone which came out in 2009 proved he was one of the hottest new artists out. A bidding war ensued. And the rest, they say, is history.
