XXL‘s 2016 Freshman Class is out. Since last month, we’ve been providing you with a behind-the-scenes look at the cover shoot and the work it takes to pull it all together.

After two weeks of releasing the individual freestyles and profile videos of Kodak BlackDenzel CurryAnderson .PaakLil DickyG HerboLil Uzi VertDave East21 SavageDesiigner and fan-voted 10th spot winner Lil Yachty, the cyphers kick off this week. First up was Anderson .Paak, Desiigner and Lil Dicky and the next cypher featured Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Denzel Curry and Lil Yachty. For the third and final cypher, Dave East and G Herbo go nuts in this lyrical showcase of talent over a beat crafted by Sikwitit.

The two wordsmiths are a perfect match. Dave East starts off, representing Harlem to the fullest with a flow that would make Juelz Santana shed a tear in approval. "If you heard it from me then you know it's the truth/I'm Dominican, plate of Cuban when I go in the booth," raps East.

G Herbo, representing Chicago, shows off his rapid-fire flow, rattling off bars like a wylie vet. "G Herbo, you know me/I guess that I'm a Freshman now but I've been a OG," he spits to open his freestyle.

Check out Dave East and G Herbo’s cypher in the video above and head over to our 2016 XXL Freshman site to catch up on freestyles and interviews right here.
