L.A.'s own Boogie knows the art of good timing. The West Coast upstart drops the new video to "Man Down" today (July 6) which doubles as an official trailer to his upcoming album Thirst 48 Part II.

Though things start off serene and comforting — Boogie playing with his son, Darius — things are anything but. Boogie uses the analogy of getting targeted and shot to talk about people's social media obsession these days. Boogie's agile bars are only amplified by the scenes of projected gang and police activity in the video. Ironically, the visual comes right on time as news broke last night (July 5) of another unarmed man, Alton Sterling, being killed by police in Baton Rouge.

"Ride on 'em/Put the fire on 'em/It's dark, I tried to shed some light on 'em/I done walked through your isle/I seen mode on your towel/I see leaks in your truth and I see holes in your smile/I done peeped through your trials/I done looked through your file/So won't you please take that booking info out your bio/They think it's vital to go viral/Like, why I'm living right though if all these niggas typos?" he asks.

At the end of the visual is audio of a police responder saying, "I have possibly two officers down," before the rapper announces that his newest album Thirst 48 Part II is set to drop next month. This new project will serve as the follow up to his 2014 debut Thirst 48.

Last time XXL caught up with Boogie, he had just inked a deal with Interscope Records and was enthusiastic about getting to work on new material.

“I’m trying to leave my legacy as the greatest... my main thing is to change the world. And I feel like my message can do that.”
