Well, this is awkward. Rising Minnesota rapper Allan Kingdom announced on Twitter earlier this morning (July 29) that he was working on a new project. But was he also trolling Kid Cudi in the process?

"Hey Everyone I'm working on my new project Man on the Moon 3. I know u been waiting a long time I got you," wrote the Midwest upstart this morning in the now deleted tweet.

Kid Cudi responded almost immediately to Allan's tweet, asking simply, "This a joke?"

Both rappers deleted their tweets, but the Cleveland boy was understandably upset, being that he started the Man on the Moon series with his 2009 debut album. Cudi's Man on the Moon: The End of Day and Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager (2010) are both certified Gold and helped catapult Cudi to atmospheric rap stardom.

This situation is oddly reminiscent of ATL rapper Young Thug saying he would name his 2015 mixtape Carter 6, essentially jacking the name from Young Money superstar Lil Wayne. That title drew ire from Weezy F during an already hostile time between the two rappers and compelled Thugger to eventually change the name of the tape to Barter 6.

Kingdom, who dropped his last project Northern Lights in January of this year, is currently pushing the video for his single "Fables" off the project. Cudi meanwhile is gearing up to star in the new season of Fox's Empire and has been dropping new music sporadically this year in anticipation for his new album Passion Pain and Demon Slayin.'

Crisis averted...for now. XXL reached out to Kingdom's camp for comment and will update this post when we learn more.
