Troy Ave's lawyer, Scott Leemon, is asking the public for help in defending his client against attempted murder charges. NYPD arrested the New York rapper following last week's shooting at a T.I. concert, in which 33-year-old Ron "Banga" McPhatter -- Troy Ave's bodyguard -- was killed.

In addition to attempted murder, Troy Ave also faces charges of reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a firearm. In an interview (see above) with Fox 5 news reporter Lisa Evers, Leemon asks anyone with information about the Irving Plaza shooting to send an e-mail to TroyAveInfo@LeemonLaw.com.

"We're going to ask anyone who was there, anyone who has any information or anyone who knows someone who was in that VIP room that night -- we have set up a special e-mail address," Leemon says. "We know some people have problems talking to and working with NYPD -- help us. Help me defend Troy."

Troy Ave is currently being held at the Rikers Island infirmary unit with no bail. He is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Leemon says his client plans to plead "absolutely not guilty" in the upcoming court case.

Leemon goes on to state, "What troubles me most is the misinformation that is being sent out. NYPD knows Troy didn't shoot himself. They know Troy didn't shoot his bodyguard. That man died a hero," Leemon says. "And to imply anything -- that Troy would actually hurt his lifelong friend -- is absolutely insane and irresponsible."

A surveillance video of Troy Ave firing a weapon at Irving Plaza's VIP room the night of the concert recently surfaced. In the Fox 5 interview, Leemon discredits the video by calling it incomplete.

"I really can't talk about the piece of video except that it wasn't complete," Leemon says. "You don't know what happened before, and you don't know what happened after ... It's not the whole story."

Yesterday, Live Nation and Irving Plaza cancelled several upcoming hip-hop shows. Rumors are being tossed around that the NYPD pressured the venue to cancel these concerts. Leemon has no comment on this matter.

"My take is to ask Commissioner Bratton," Leemon says. "Who knows what he does."
