Masta Ace relives the harder days of his adolescence on the new track “Y.B.I. (Young, Black & Intelligent).” Brooklyn's own shared the visual adaption to his words with a black & white video to today (June 17). With assistance from Pav Bundy and Chuck D, the Brooklyn MC remembers the ups and downs of school days when he was just trying to "get a B in geometry, lose my virginity and live my life drama-free."

"On my way to duel again, me against the world/But all I can think about is me against a girl/Youth full of exuberance, busting out the scenes/Look at all the other kids cussing at the deans/Looking at all the other kids cutting 8th period/But I'm on a team and my coach won't hear of it/This wall aware of it, I ain't getting pinched/Y'all dummies go ahead I ain’t getting benched/Whole lot of right and a little bit of wrong/And everything you work for? Gone."

It's clear Masta Ace speaks from the heart on this one. The Brooklynite is remembering racial tension after being bused from his predominantly Black neighborhood of Brownsville, Brooklyn to Sheepshead Bay High School to a much Whiter section of Brooklyn. The reminiscent style rap is the latest single off Masta Ace's May release The Falling Season.

A veteran to the game, Masta wrote an open letter earlier this year to ask if hip-hop has lost its soul. It's clear he's looking to restore the feeling with his latest LP. Check out the gripping visual above.
