Jay Rock is a survivor. You can hear it in the L.A. rapper's lyrics and you can see it in his stage stamina four months after a life-threatening accident.

Sway in the Morning reporter Nicky G caught up with the big homie fresh off his performance at Soundset Festival 2016 this past weekend (May 30). In the new interview, Jay Rock touched on his West Coast inspirations, shares some family business about TDE and most importantly, gave an update about his health just a few months after being involved in a serious motorcycle accident.

"I broke my leg and cracked my pelvis," says the former XXL Freshman and 90059 rapper. "But as you can see, it only took me a couple weeks to get back out here because you can't bring a strong one down."

It was back in February of this year that the gruff-voiced L.A. MC was injured during a motorcycle accident. The ordeal took him out of commission during Grammys weekend and Top Dawg's CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith shared the news over Twitter, asking fans for prayers.

"Accidents happen," says Rock, "but by God's grace, he protected me the whole way."

In addition to declaring himself 100 percent healthy, Jay talked about all the great things TDE has in the works for the rest of the year.

"Q just dropped a new single, 'That Way' with Kanye. We got [Ab] Soul on the way, I was just in the studio with him and he played some crazy stuff."

When G asked if it was "Soul Season" next, Rock kept things light and ambiguous. "Whatever the big dog say, that's what we do." This news comes on the heels of Schoolboy announcing his new album will drop next month on July 8.
