The DMV's own Jay IDK pulls double duty as he drops off two new bangers, "Mentality" and "Somebody," this week.

Known for blending trap beats with highly metaphorical wordplay, the DMV upstart shows off the yin and yang of his personality on the two new tracks with common themes of money and success throughout. Produced by Vontae Thomas and Jonny Benjamin, first up is "Mentality," which bares the haunting hook of "stack, stack, stack, then fuck it up!"

"Don't let a nigga pull up in that black thang/'Cuz I'mma be stuntin' like my daddy should/Shoulda never let a nigga in the rap game/You might just catch me at the Grammys with your bitch/That your bitch? I pull up/She disappears hocus pocus like, 'Whats up?'/And if you got a problem/And if you got a problem hold this/I could have every hoe in this whole shit/I come through with the come-thru/I come first but she come too/I love head but I love bread/so she don't ever get a crumb, ooh," he rhymes.

Next is the Noo$e and Nate Fox-produced "Somebody," which leaves the listener with a hopeful message after just one play.

"I know I'd be somebody even when I didn't know who I would be/So, know you'll be somebody even when there is a future you can't see," Jay serves.

"Mentality" and "Somebody" are considered the A-side and B-side of a single record, a double-release meant to build the anticipation for the DMV rapper's second mixtape due out later this year. Last summer, IDK perked the ears of rap fans with his mixtape SubTrap because of the imaginative use of different characters on each tracks. This time around, it seems the 24-year-old is aiming to tell his own personal story of his success so far in the rap industry.

IDK will be repping his hometown as a performer at Maryland's fifth annual Trillectro later this summer. Headliners at this year's fest include Kid Cudi, Rae Sremmurd, GoldLink and newly minted XXL Freshman Lil Uzi Vert. Check out IDK's latest offerings above and below.
