Today (June 18), is the birthday of New Orleans rapper Silkk The Shocker, who turns 43.

Born Vyshonne King Miller in New Orleans, La., Silkk helped form No Limit Records with his brothers Percy "Master P" Miller and Corey "C-Murder" Miller in 1990. Silkk was a prominent figure in 1990s Southern hip-hop thanks to two successful albums back to back: 1996's The Shocker and 1998's Charge It 2 Da Game. The latter album would prove to be Shocker's most commercially successful LP to date, becoming platinum by RIAA thanks in part to the single “Just Be Straight with Me” featuring Master P and Destiny’s Child.

With a discography spanning decades, Silkk has worked with everyone from Mystikal, Petey Pablo and Snoop Dogg to his one time girlfriend Mya. He's even tried his hand at acting over the years, appearing in the No Limit feature film, Hot Boyz, teaming up with comics like Lil Duval and working with WWE professional wrestling.

Happy Birthday, Silkk The Shocker!
