One week out of the Feds and Gucci Mane's buzz isn't going anywhere. To celebrate Guwop's glorious return to rap in 2016, VladTV dug up an archived interview from ten years ago. The throwback video posted today (June 2) shows the Atlanta trap lord in his younger days chilling in his house with a low cut, his stouter physique and matching gold teeth and chain. La Flare reminisces about writing poetry in school, getting his start in the ATL music scene and beating a murder case that could've ended his career.

"You don't want to dwell on stuff that you did in the past, last year," says the MC when asked if he regrets his past. "I'm just looking forward because I'm out of jail, you know what I'm saying?"

Gucci, government name Radric Davis, was accused of the murder of fellow Georgia rapper Henry Lee Clark III back in the spring of 2005. In May of 2005, Mane was visiting a female friend in Decatur, Georgia when four men burst into her apartment looking for him. According to reports, the men fought, gunshots were fired and the men fled the scene. Clark’s body was discovered several days later outside a nearby middle school. Gucci always maintained that he was acting in self-defense and because the Dekalb County Police Department was lacking physical evidence connecting him to the crime, they dropped the murder charges against Davis in January of 2006.

Later in the seven-minute clip, Gucci also freestyled a few bars in his kitchen and shared his personal policy about snitching. "I'm a true G, I never snitched on a nigga...I'll die before I snitch on a dude. On my life, on my mama."

The video is riddled with Gucci's signature words of wisdom and one-liners ("The only beef I got now is filet mignon, dog"), making it a treasure trove for any diehard Guwop fan.

Gucci was released from federal prison last week, May 26, after serving four years on an illegal gun charge. He is currently under house arrest in Atlanta followed by probation. Check out the interview above.
