Future’s Performance at Summer Jam 2016 Gets Canceled

Future's manager Anthony Saleh has issued a statement on the fiascos at Roots Picnic and Summer Jam. Read it below.

Future's two big performances were severely affected this weekend due to a firestorm of unfortunate events. To begin with, the generator that powered the sound at The Roots picnic went out multiple times during Future's set and he was forced against his own will to end the show early. Then yesterday, as most know, the storm that was fast approaching the NY/NJ area affected Hot 97's Summer Jam. We sat around and watched the storm come and pass ready to hit the stage. Once we arrived at Summer Jam there apparently was a riot that broke out in a section during another set. We were told that the station was forced by the city and the venue to cut us from the show. The festival organizers came to Future's dressing room and personally asked him to leave immediately.  Future was crushed by the request but was told it was in the best interest and for everyone's safety that he leave. We couldn't be more disappointed but we promise our fans that in spite of the rocky start we will do everything in our power to make this summer one for the history books!!! #SummerSixteen

Hot 97's annual Summer Jam concert event usually contains so many stars and so many audience members that it's rare for things to go off without a hitch. That was unfortunately the case this past weekend as the evening's headlining performer, Future, was unable to take the stage due to time and weather constraints.

Rain caused the radio station to cancel their opening Festival Stage and delayed the Stadium Stage to such a degree that the plug had to be pulled before Future could perform. “We share your disappointment that due to the delayed start because of the severe weather, as well as a curfew and an end deadline for the last train out of Secaucus in consideration of our concert goers traveling via NJ Transit, that we were unable to get everyone on stage tonight we had hoped would perform,” a spokesperson for Emmis Communications, the parent company of Hot 97, said.

Future himself commented on the cancellation, with the rapper's manager Anthony Saleh writing on Twitter, "@1future & Freebandz sincerely apologize to our fans this weekend. Both times not our fault but we still hate to disappoint." Earlier in the weekend, Future's set at The Roots Picnic was cut short due to audio issues, with the audience growing unruly as thing began to deteriorate. The Summer Jam woes aren't likely to stop Future's summer plans though, as he and Drake embark on their Summer Sixteen tour starting July 20 in Austin, Texas.
