In an interesting development, Fonzworth Bentley reveals how he is responsible for linking Gucci Mane and Kanye West for "Champions," the first single from 'Ye's upcoming G.O.O.D. Music album, Cruel Winter. Peep the 30-second clip above to watch Bentley break down the course of events leading up to Guwop laying down his standout verse on the brand new record.

Bentley took to Twitter today (June 7) to explain how it all went down. "[Kanye] mentioned Gucci getting out, and I had been in Atlanta for like two weeks, so I really gave [Kanye] the play-by-play of the significance of what that looked like," he says.

Upon hearing Kanye's line in the song about "going Gucci in the Gucci store," Bentley told Yeezy he needed to get Gucci Mane for a feature. Fonzworth sent a text to Gucci's camp and heard back almost immediately that Guwop agreed to do the verse. "Before I knew it, I was on the phone with Gucci, and I connected him to 'Ye," Bentley says.

Unless you've been living under a rock, by now you should've heard the banger in question, "Champions," which dropped Friday. In an interview with Big Boy's Neighborhood, 'Ye compared all the incredible guest features on the song to the "Avengers of rap" getting on a track together.

In other Kanye news, the Chi-town artists recently tried to throw a last-minute block party in New York City after his Governer's Ball show was canceled due to weather. The last-minute effort didn't exactly work out; however, NYC mayor Bill de Blasio got wind of it and reached out to Kanye the next day. Stay tuned to XXL to find out if de Blasio and 'Ye end up collaborating on a block party to benefit the NYC youth.
