DJ Khaled’s “For Free” Is Already His Second Biggest Song
While DJ Khaled’s catalog of hits is extensive and familiar to most walking, talking music listeners, the well-connected Miami maestro hasn’t quite experienced the chart-topping success one might presume. Sure, “All I Do Is Win” is a certified championship anthem right up there with Queen’s famous tune, but a look at the updated Billboard charts reveals that Khaled’s latest single, “For Free” featuring Drake, is his second biggest record to date.
Charting at 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, “For Free” is behind “I’m On One” only as Khaled’s most successful record, the similarly Drake featured track reaching as high as No. 10 on the charts in the summer of 2011. This was the debut week for “For Free,” which premiered on Apple Music earlier this month.
For Khaled, who has taken to producing sayings and merch with the same fluidity he applies to his records, the radio reign is likely to go on and on all summer sixteen. There’s a Future and Jay Z record titled “I Got the Keys” waiting in the wings, with the three calling upon every available rap superstar for the video shoot last week. Khaled’s album Major Key is expected this summer, with the Snapchat King already making more waves than a runaway Sea-Doo.
Check the full Billboard Hot 200, which, once again, is topped by Drake’s “One Dance.” Desiigner’s “Panda” comes in at No. 2, while Khaled’s artist Kent Jones moves up two spots to No. 11 with his song “Don’t Mind.”
