When Donald Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino, shared a link for an app titled Pharos last week (June 17), little was known of its origins or purpose, a countdown clock shown once it was open. But now, speculation that Gambino was counting down the minutes and seconds to a new music release has been confirmed, as information was released regarding a full album experience with a list of dates for shows in Joshua Tree, CA.

Fans who downloaded the Pharos app are now shown images teasing the new music and album experience set to take place September 2, 3, and 4. Pre-sale tickets will be available in the app starting June 24 at 9 A.M. P.S.T. General sale starts June 27 at 9 A.M. P.S.T., with tickets listed at $99 each including all taxes and fees. There is as well mention of the venue's limited capacity and fans are encouraged to bring their own tents to sleep on the campgrounds.

An F.A.Q. for the event was posted to the app's website, providing some more details about the event. "Each full-length, live Childish Gambino show will be comprised of new music. Doors open at 6pm with all programming occurring in the evening and onwards," it says.

Beyond that though, very little is known of Gambino's master plan. As it were, Glover's original FX series Atlanta is promoting a September premiere date, with the new concert information suggesting that the comedian/actor/rapper is planning some sort of multi-media drop come fall. A Reddit user had discovered that Glover filed for a trademark on the phrase pharos. The goods and services associated with the trademark explained as “entertainment services in the nature of presenting live musical performances; Entertainment, namely, live music concerts.”

Based on that explanation, it would seem that Glover is throwing his hat into the content streaming game, but time will tell precisely what Pharos, the app and/or album, truly is.
