Four teams — the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors — are currently vying for the NBA Championship, but that number will be down to two come June 2 when the Finals begin. All quests for championship glory need a proper soundtracking, and the league has tapped The Roots for that very duty as yesterday the group released the aptly titled "Champion."

On the track, which has already been featured in various TV spots, Black Thought lends his consistently heavyweight pen, embodying LeBron James attacking the rim on his two verses. Winning platitudes and mantras just sound more inspired coming from the MC, who raps, "You work hard till you’re better off / 24-7-365 , never off / Look at me, I’m nocturnal I don’t sleep / my eyes heavy, bags and crows feet / But I won’t be stopped."

The Roots' legacy within hip-hop and music at large was already written and lauded before they signed on as the house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and now their musical chops are full display with opportunities such as providing the official song of the 2016 NBA Finals. Whether it be sports or pop culture, The Roots have proven their talents supreme regardless of arena or subject. Listen to "Champion" up above and watch a promo clip Roots shot for ESPN below.

Game 4 of the Wester Conference Finals between the Thunder and the Warriors takes place tonight on TNT at 9 p.m. EST. The Thunder lead the series 2-1, while the Eastern Conference Finals is all knotted up at 2 games a piece.
